Six Traits of Summer is a personal mini project exploring icons associated with the British month of Summer. The images investigate how colour and texture can be used to create a visual display that has a graphic appearance and quality, devised to reflect a vibrant aesthetic and mood. Inspired by pop art, the images champion ordinary objects in a contemporary, vibrant way. Typically summer is culturally a month associated with long days, sunshine and days out. Consequently the aim of each image is to represent this, without divulging too much information. Designed to be read quickly, some images are more effective than others, but the uses of core colour palettes run through each image to appeal to the senses in a fun manner that emphasises the importance of each seasonal symbol.
